Biography

Rob joined the Building Energy Research Group at Loughborough University at the end of 2016, as Senior Lecturer in Building Energy Demand and as Academic Manager of the Loughborough London (LoLo) Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT). Rob was previously Senior Lecturer at Brighton University (2015-2017) and Technical Manager of BRE Wales & SW (2007-2010). In this position, he led a number of high-level projects supporting the work of the Welsh Assembly Government and overseeing the design and certification of the first social Passivhaus and zero carbon (Code 5 & 6) buildings in the UK.  In 2010 Rob became an Associate of BRE, since this time he has led the delivery of the BRE Certified Passivhaus Designer (CPHD) Training course and is currently co-investigator on a BRE Trust funded research project titled: Resilience – tackling overheating in urban dwellings.

Research interests

Research interests and industrial background are multi-disciplinary in nature, addressing ‘real-world’ problems at the interface of building physics, environmental design, human interaction, and resource and energy policy. Technical experience includes the monitoring, modelling and sensitivity analysis of Passivhaus and ultra-low-energy buildings; and performance processes including, climate data generation, hygrothermal risk analysis, ventilation and overheating performance.
