NEW PAPER: LoLo CDT PhD Student Harry Kennard (UCL) on “Observational evidence of the seasonal and demographic variation in experienced temperature from 77 743 UK Biobank participants”
Using a novel form of data collection using a wrist worn temperature and activity sensor, this paper reports the finding that UK Biobank participants had an experienced temperature of ~1.8°C colder in the winter months verses the summer. A number of demographic differences were also observed—such as people of Chinese ethnic background experiencing 0.65°C lower temperatures than other groups. These findings are important for understanding energy demand and the health impacts of low temperatures
