Congratulations to UCL-Energy and LoLo PhD student Moira Nicolson for winning the Best Oral Presentation Award at the ‘Randomised Controlled Trials in the Social Sciences 10th Annual Conference’. On the second day of the conference Moira’s presented: “Can behavioural economics be used to encourage consumers to switch to green energy tariffs? A randomised controlled trial on a representative sample of British energy bill payers”.

The conference was hosted by the University of York Health Sciences department and was jointly organised by University of York, York Trials Unit, Department of Health, Durham University, School of Education and the National Foundation for Education Research. The conference included keynote and invited presentations from national and international speakers and contributed presentations on all aspects of randomised trials in the social sciences.

Moira is also part of the UCL-Energy’s ‘People, Energy and Buildings’ Group and helped author a report on consumer demand for time of use electricity tariffs, which was launched in Parliament in March 2015.
